A telescopic module to reach all heights
The telescopic module allows the Cage height to adapt to ceilings, beams or raised floors, ensuring stable positioning and precise adjustment.
Sheet metal solutions for restricted areas and airflow containment
Panels can be supplied in plain FullSteel sheet metal, allowing both visual segregation for privacy and the creation of aisles for airflow containment.
Tamper-proof fixing systems
To enhance the security level, components can be protected against tampering even from inside the Cage. Security nuts and screws are available for installations where removal is not permitted after assembly.
Integration with panic bar hinged Door
Satech Cages can be equipped with welded-mesh doors featuring panic bars and electronic locks for controlled access. Their steel structure, clean design and panic hardware combine safety with functionality — key requirements in modern Data Centres.
Panic bar with anti-break-in plate
- Panic bar compliant with UNI EN 1125
- Available in different colours and finishes, also with antibacterial paint
- Anti-break-in plate to prevent opening from the outside
Concealed hinges to protect against break-ins
- Not accessible from the outside
- High-level aesthetics
- Allow maximum layout flexibility: it is possible to install a panel adjacent to the same door support post at 90°
Satech Colocation Cages: frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is a Data Centre Cage?
A Data Centre Cage is a modular structure composed of panels, posts (uprights) and doors that delimits and protects areas with racks, servers and network equipment.
What meshes are available for the Cage?
We offer three configurations: 11 × 60 mm, 25 × 25 mm and 40 × 40 mm, all with Ø 2,8 mm wire.
Each of them responds to specific requirements for Security and airflow circulation.
Mesh Cages and solid sheet metal Cages: when to choose one or the other?
Wire mesh is ideal when ventilation and operational visibility are preferred, while solid sheet metal is preferable for those who desire greater visual privacy or partial isolation.
In more complex projects the two solutions are often combined (e.g. with sheet metal panels in the lower part and mesh in the upper part) to achieve the best balance between screening and airflow.
What are the dimensions of Colocation Cages?
Satech's Colocation Cages feature 1200 mm post centre distance and 1730 mm height modules. The latter can be completed with a telescopic module to adapt the height to existing structures (e.g. beams, false ceilings or raised floors) whilst maintaining continuity between panels.
For a complete overview of dimensions, refer to this section.
How are Colocation Cages fixed to the floor?
The uprights (posts) of Satech Colocation Cages can be anchored in three ways, depending on the flooring:
- On the floor surface: post with welded base fixed on concrete slab or finished surface.
- With fixing frame: post connected to the support structure of the raised floor, with elements hidden under the tile.
- Under the raised floor: through post anchored to the slab, for fixing panels also under the technical floor.
Each of these anchoring options ensures the stability of the structure while adapting to the mechanical and plant requirements of the IT environment.
Is it possible to dismantle the Cages and reassemble them in new configurations?
Yes. Our Cages are designed for maximum modularity. Panels, doors and sections can be moved and reassembled in new arrangements for expansions and/or reconfigurations of the existing layout.
Does the installation or modification of Cages require specific equipment or actions?
No. Installation and any modifications are performed dry, using pre-drilled mechanical fasteners. No welding, cutting, or on-site processing is required. The components are assembled with standard tools, thus minimizing time and reducing the risk of interference with the Data Centre environment.
Can the mesh panels be replaced after installation?
Yes. Satech Cage panels are completely modular and allow replacement of the mesh alone without invasive interventions. You can switch to a different mesh type or combine multiple mesh styles within the same layout by working only on the affected panels, with no need to alter the supporting structure.
Do Data Centre Cages interfere with cameras or other Security sensors?
No. Satech cages are designed so as not to obstruct the visibility and operation of Security systems. Welded mesh leaves the field of vision clear for cameras, motion sensors and fire systems, whilst maintaining physical protection of the area.
Is technical support provided during the design phase?
Yes. We are always available to support designers and contractors during layout definition , in choosing the right mesh(es) and fixings and in preparing the bill of materials. Technical support is also available during installation or reconfiguration.
